O Christmas Tree

For my last post of the year, I thought I'd share our 2007 Christmas tree experience. Last year, we decided to just buy one and, as lovely as that was, it wasn't the same as cutting our own. There is a cut-your-own tree farm down the road from us but their prices went up again this year. So we headed out to a different tree farm that was highly recommened. We were told that the people who own the tree farm were really nice and, best of all, the trees were all $10 - $20. What a bargain!

Our journey began at the bottom of a small mountain. The owners of the tree farm live right on the property.


The tree farm follows a windy road that is approximately 1/2 mile long and goes right up the mountain. At spots, we were driving through woods.

Finally, we were out of the woods. There were pretty trees all around us but the road kept on going. We ended up driving all of the way to the top...which you can see in this photo. Up the hill and to the extreme left of the picture is the section where we decided to look for our tree.


The view from the top was spectacular. And it was so quiet...


...that is until we got out of the car, stomping around, in search of our tree.


Togo came with us. He was quiet, though, as he was hunting for small woodland creatures.


The kids quickly became engaged in some type of game leaving Dieter to find the tree.


Finally, he found it and, at his request, I videoed him sawing it down. (Yes, we are weird.)


While Dieter was securing the tree on the car, the kids decided to make a snowman.


I think they did a great job!


We headed back down the mountain and stopped in the little store to pay. The owners of the farm and their employee graciously agreed to allow me to photograph them for this blog. (Just in case you were wondering what they looked like!)


And, finally, the decorated tree in our home.
