Yesterday morning, at registration, the kids were entertaining themselves on the playground. Levi, a.k.a. Superman, spied a baby swing and stopped all play to drag his little sis over to it.

Once there, he needed the help of his mom (does that make me Supermom?) to hoist her up.
Mom, you have to put Eowyn in her swing.

In she went and Levi used to his superhuman strength to push her.

She didn't seem to mind.

Then, he decided to hitch a ride.

This ended quickly as Levi soon came in close contact with the ground. It seems that Superman is no longer able to defy gravity (I'm not too upset about that.)
Meanwhile, Farm Team Cyclists were getting ready for the morning races.

Just before the start, I spied this young cyclist in his favorite position. It seems he still isn't getting enough sleep before races.

The first few fields went off and then it was time for the Cub Jrs. Wyatt looked ready to ride.

I wanted to quickly head out to the finish but Dieter had left with the keys. Luckily, Sharon, a Farm Team mom, was willing to give me a ride over. But it meant we had to do this....

I bet that you didn't know that an umbrella stroller could double as a portable car seat? Well, don't worry. Neither does the manufacturer!
We made it safely over to the finish with plenty of time for Dagny to pick a handful of wild strawberries...

before Wyatt finished. (He's the second rider in this picture.)

When all of the riders were done, we attended a brief awards ceremony for the Cub Jrs.

By this time, the rest of the morning fields were starting to finish. They had a grueling 1.5 mile climb up the base of Whiteface Mountain, pictured below,...

to reach the finish line, at this elevation.

We passed quite a few riders on the way up including Meg, a Farm Team mom, who actually looked like she was having fun.

Farm Team did well. They all finished strong with one placing first and another losing out at the finish line after a sprint with another junior rider.

Dieter raced in one of the afternoon groups with Austin. Since Sharon's husband was also racing, we decided to hang out at the feed zone in case any of the men needed a liquid refreshment.
The weather up there was odd. It would sprinkle for a few minutes and then the sun would beam down on us. The kids decided that they needed to build a rain shelter to stay dry.
Out of the woods came a very long stick.

It was quite a team project.

Dagny built her own shelter while Eowyn played in the dirt.

Dieter passed by us a few times. He was looking pretty strong.

He, too, had to ride up the base of the mountain to finish. It looked tough but I think that he did well. He's says he'll go back next year which means that he liked the race. I'm just happy when everyone finishes on their bike.
